Toshinmack, just wish he could pick cherries, but the applle picker keeps picking lemons, probably some of those with a strawberry lemonade taste, isn’t that just a hidden rose type.
Except it isn’t. In the 3.5 years I’ve been recording the weather where I live, the average absolute deviation from the 30-day mean is 2.1 F, with a standard deviation of 1.5 F.
So 3.2 F isn’t even one standard deviation from the mean.
“It is so hot that the low temperature for the normally frigid International Falls only hit 60°F yesterday, which tied the previous record high for the date! meteorologist Dr. Jeff Masters wrote he’s never seen that happen station with a century-long data record.”
October 10th, 2009 the HIGH temperature in Cheyenne, Wyoming was only 17°F. The previous record low for the date was 19°F. Records date to 1871.

Excellent! DA better go looking for a different cherry to pick.
The first rule of cherry picking, David: Pick a REAL cherry.
meanwhile…in other news…my friend down in California just drove through a snow storm…me thinks we will call this WEATHER…

“But, of course, one season does not a climate make”, right, David Appell?
Only if, like this blog, you rely on cherry picking. Which was my point.
All swans are white.
It’s cherry picking if you can find a few pictures of black swans.

Normal variability. Wish It was us here in the NW. We’re running 10 degrees below normal. I had to clear snow from my car last night.
But I’m afraid we’re in for a La Nina threepeat.
I live in Oregon, and where I live last month has only been 3.2 F below normal.
3.2 F is still fairly significant. To which, I can only say, better you than me. I’ve enjoyed the mild winter….. and so has my wallet.
Except it isn’t. In the 3.5 years I’ve been recording the weather where I live, the average absolute deviation from the 30-day mean is 2.1 F, with a standard deviation of 1.5 F.
So 3.2 F isn’t even one standard deviation from the mean.
Would it be the Appell of eye!
