Bottom line NSF neglect ice-breaker fleet so antarctic station caught short when Sweden decide they need ice-breaker to keep domestic shipping going.
I hate to have to point out the obvious…but exactly where have they been claiming sea ice loss……..

Baltimore Gas and Electric still reports 31,000 customers without power 6 days after Irene. To those people, Irene was no joke. Apparently even 60-70 mph wind gusts are more than our power grid can stand.
According to the , most of southeast Louisiana is currently experiencing tropical storm force winds. Meanwhile, reports 20 m.p.h. winds.
