    I don’t know if you follow the Florida State snowcover site (http://moe.met.fsu.edu/snow) but they are trying to say that the worldwide snowcover is only a tiny bit above normal. I don’t buy that at all, with all virtually all of Russia and Canada snowcovered, extensive snowcover in the US plus all the anomalous snowcover in Europe.

    Just wait until next week. If the weather models are correct, the cold next week will make this week’s cold look mild by comparison. Could even threaten the orange groves.

    only from eyeballing the map above,

    there is a lot of snow covered areas that do not show up all across the southwest.
