Engineering Humans: A New Solution to Climate Change?

So far, conventional solutions to global warming — new government policies and changes in individual behavior — haven’t delivered. And more radical options, such as pumping sulfur into the atmosphere to counteract warming, pose a great deal of risk.  There may be another route to avoid the potentially disastrous effects of climate change: We can deliberately alter ourselves, three researchers suggest.  Human engineering, as they call it, poses less danger than altering our planet through geoengineering, and it could augment changes to personal behavior or policies to mitigate climate change, they write in an article to be published in the journal Ethics, Policy and the Environment.

Hitler borrowed his eugenics theories from
    1920′s USA “scientists”.
The Fourth Reich’s bo obama’s past is dicier than
hitler’s or bush’s, although the same people backed them all
(you know that bush bankers financed the hitler industrial development and were convicted in the USA for doing so) – war is their life’s blood.

I sometimes wonder if some eccentric billionaire is around somewhere trying to create a master race. Or maybe some government somewhere. Maybe I took “Boys From Brazil” too seriously.

Simultaneous action needed to break cultural inertia in climate-change response

LONDON — (March 26, 2012) — Resistance at individual and societal levels must be recognized and treated before real action can be taken to effectively address threats facing the planet from human-caused contributions to climate change.

That’s the message to this week’s Planet Under Pressure Conference by a group of speakers led by Kari Marie Norgaard, professor of sociology and environmental studies at the University of Oregon. In a news briefing today, Norgaard discussed her paper and issues her group will address in a session Wednesday, March 28, at 2 p.m. London time (9 a.m. U.S. Eastern; 6 a.m. U.S. Pacific).

I’d suggest you all should have read the piece more carefully before you went all bat-guano paranoid with the Nazi-Enviro conspiracy talk. Note the quote in the last paragraph: “… ‘we might not be entirely serious that people should be doing this,’ said Anders Sandberg, one of the authors.”
