Global Warming Caused By Greenhouse Gases Delays Natural Patterns Of Glaciation
Written by: Eurasia ReviewJanuary 8, 2012
Unprecedented levels of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere are disrupting normal patterns of glaciation, according to a study co-authored by a University of Florida researcher and published online Jan. 8 in Nature Geoscience.
The Earth’s current warm period that began about 11,000 years ago should give way to another ice age within about 1,500 years, according to accepted astronomical models. However, current levels of carbon dioxide are trapping too much heat in the atmosphere to allow the Earth to cool as it has in its prehistoric past in response to changes in Earth’s orbital pattern. The research team, a collaboration among University College London, University of Cambridge and UF, said their data indicate that the next ice age will likely be delayed by tens of thousands of years.
That would be a real travesty if we delayed the next ice age, but there are a a couple of minor problems.
- They have no idea what they are talking about.
- There was an ice age during the Ordovician – with atmospheric CO2 10X the current (unprecedented) level.
- CO2 levels were much higher for almost all of modern geologic history. The only thing unprecedented is the ignorance of the experts.
G’day Mr G,
In a Science Times article in 2003, James Hansen of NASA already had concluded-
* “So the increasing albedo mechanism needed to move the planet into the next ice age can’t happen — unless humans go extinct.”
* ”We have taken over control of the mechanisms that determine the climate change,” he said.

Might be groundhog day.
Perhaps they should all move to Nome: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/01/08/coast-guard-helping-icebreaker-reach-fuel-stricken-alaska-city/
I can’t believe some actually put that lunacy to paper. Though, it would be cool if we could actually prevent ice ages. lol……
This would certainly turn the concept of climate reparations on its head. How much should developing economies charge the less developed for “ice age prevention” services? Should increased carbon emissions be mandatory?
…charge the less developed for “ice age prevention”…
I assume you are referring to Canada
My comment should have read “…developed economies charge the less developed …” Canada would become the recipient of lots of prevention revenues and maybe a Hero of the World award for all the tasty hydrocarbons it provides.
They have corrupted the temperature data beyond value. That means we do not know what the global temperature is actually doing. However we do have clues that lead to the opposite conclusion, which is the globe is in a long term cooling pattern and that has not changed for the last five thousand years.
They can only fantasize that we can delay the coming glaciation.
I don’y know about the next ice age. I do know that the next LIA will be due in the next couple of hundred years or so.
If an extra degree or two heads this off, mankind should be ectremely grateful.
If CO2 did what they claim it does….we would be having run away global warming right now…..not 2/10th of a degree
We should produce as much fossil as possible, because not only would it be in our national interest, it might even forestall another Ice Age. A win/win all the way! Drill, baby, drill!!
So Europeans and Aussies have to pay co2 taxes because…..
About the unprecedented levels of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere that are disrupting normal patterns of glaciation, according to a study co-authored by a University of Florida researcher and published online Jan. 8 in Nature Geoscience.
How could the authors not know there was an ice age during the Ordovician – with atmospheric CO2 10X the current (unprecedented) level?
Is it simply because of their genuine ignorance? Or is it because they simply refuse to acknowledge any evidence unless its from a computer model?
This situation interests me very much. It’s on a par with the Queensland floods in Australia, this time last year, when in an interview on ABC TV, an IPCC ‘scientist’, David Karoly, immediately blamed the floods on man-made global warming… as though the floods were unprecedented … as though similar floods in Queensland had never happened in the past. Yet he would have known too well they had… even worse. Or was he perhaps intentionally engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct?
So what is it with these sorts of people?
Do they suffer from some form of psychosis that conveniently makes them forget past climatic events, believing such weather events only began to happen recently with rising carbon dioxide emissions?
Or are they just climate charlatans, determined to preach the message of the IPCC irrespective of the real world observational data?
Once again, a “study”comes out with grandiose predicitons not even remotely supported by the data. But, that is no surprise. The IPCC was behind the “study”.
It is immediately suspect and after some scrutiny will be exposed as a fraud most likely. Watch and see.
Can we sue climate scientists for damages? I don’t mean damages by glaciers sometime in the future but the damage they constantly inflict on the public purse.
There must be a point where the pretense of research ends and charges of embezzlement can be brought.
I’m European so I can’t sue these guys but as you all know the situation is no better in the EU.
Walking it back just a little.
