PIPSIceGrowth20082011 Ice Volumegate

PIPS2 is now offline and hidden, but I captured all of their imagery before the dirty deed was done. They showed a large increase in thick ice area between July 31 2008 and the same date in 2011. Mark Serreze bet on an ice-free pole in 2008 because the ice was so thin.

Why NSIDC seems to be now trying to claim that the ice is getting thinner, is beyond my comprehension.

    NSIDC you say?

What a coincidence. Julienne Stroeve works there, under Mark Serreze. She is commenting here as recently as yesterday.

So how about some official commentary Julienne?

Aren’t all of these models? The only actual measurements I’ve ever seen were for those overflights sponsored by a German university (Hamburg? I don’t recall and am completely unmotivated to look). And surprise surprise, they were shocked at the thickness of the ice. Why is it so hard for “scientists” to say: “We don’t know”. Instead all I ever see is: “We know because our computer model tells us.” You know, kinda like how models 20 years ago accurately predicted the weather today, or how Florida got hammered by Irene The Storm of Doom. /sarc Seriously: why should we look at the silly computer games which are “tweaked” to say what is expected? Until someone goes up there and actually measures the stuff, I’m just going to assume they are all just FOS.

Well it’s nice to see that PIPS2 was just as wrong in 2008 as it was in 2011.

Just look at the growth of the now infamous PIPS2 North Pole Hole!

Thanks for highlighting once again how bad PIPS2/3 really are.
