Opinion: It’s hard to celebrate Earth Day while facing crisis of climate change
If it wasn’t “climate change” the author would find something else to be miserable about.
More and more people are taking the opportunity on Earth Day to recognize and celebrate the countless life-giving wonders of our precious home planet, the only place in the universe known to support life.
But, for some of us, the celebration is dampened by the realization that we’re abusing and mistreating our home, most notably by poisoning the air daily with tons of greenhouse gases that alter the climate.
CO2 and H2O are the two primary greenhouse gases and also are the basis of all life on Earth.
Much of the public, burdened by climate-change denier propaganda, is unable to accept the unpleasant reality of climate change and seek solutions. Fortunately, when people learn the facts, they can understand man’s role in the problem. Climate change is real, it’s caused primarily by man’s activities, and we need to act now to reduce destructive fossil fuel use and develop clean energy.

No doubt humans caused the 12 degree swings seen in the graph below, even before modern humans had evolved.
Interesting how the world’s stupidest and most neurotic people imagine that they have science on their side.

Eeyore’s the lot of them.

Well, I have enjoyed today! Few good laughs, gin and tonic and flowers in the garden. Lighten up with the end of the world garbage!
Correction, the science that is in line with their point of view is on their side. The science that isn’t, well, is funded by big oil, a denier conspiracy, or is done by stupid people. The mystery for me is how they can tell which science is “good” and which science is “bad” while simultaneously admitting to no expertise in the topics being studied.

Then give it up fool. I know I didn’t celebrate this silly fabricated day. I was at work as a matter of fact – I’ve got some hot deliveries of machine tools to make and was the first guy in line to get into Fry’s Electronics this morning to buy some necessary gadgets for my machines.
As I was checking out, I asked the clerk if she knew it was Earth Day. She didn’t. I asked her if she knew it was also Vladimir Lenin’s birthday. She didn’t know that either. I asked her if she thought that was a coincidence. She looked up at me and saying nothing; so I said, “I think not”.
That was my Earth Day.
I’d rather celebrate Lenin’s birthday than Earth day.
I celebrated by imaging how my grandparents (now dead) would have laughed themselves silly over the AGW scare.
The lunatics who are following and leading the drum beat of this asininity need some real problems to concern themselves with.
funny they forget that the water air and general environment IS actually better in most places than it was in the 70s, or thats what some data I saw seemed to show.
the big lakes are alive, the rivers are supposed to be? somewhat safer for human use.
and if after 40 something years they havent managed to solve what they saw as serious issues that were of a direct causation and remediable.
then “solving” a NON problem co2 is far beyond them:-0
We’re not changing the climate. It’s this “opinion” piece, completely devoid of fact, makes me weep for humanity.
Also, I do love how they mention “denier propaganda” while not looking in the mirror. They are the climate change deniers, not skeptics.
True, this “opinion” piece, is devoid of fact or science but IMHO I doubt that is what it wanted to be. It is an emotional piece, designed to sooth the believers while upsetting the skeptic.
The problem is, at its base, the false assumption that humans are not part of nature.
