According to the US Navy, the area of 3+ metre thick ice has doubled since last autumn. This agrees with NSIDC graphs which show an increase in the area of thick multi-year ice.

By contrast, the PIOMAS model shows that Arctic ice has thinned since last year and is on a trend to zero by 2016. Alarmists love to refer to PIOMAS, even though because it appears to be fatally flawed.

It gets even better for PIOMAS. Those pinheads think 2010 broke the record of least amount of ice.

Its worth a read, seems they don’t like our NSIDC.
Looks like 4 year old ice will spike soon. I suppose then the cry will be for 5 year old ice.
Thick ice is bad for polar bears. New CRISIS!!!!
As I speculated in a comment a few days ago, 2011′s area (according to CT) did go on to surpass 2009′s on Nov 4. It also passed 2010′s yesterday, which is earlier than I thought it would. The increase recently has been ridiculous. I expect it to slow down soon, but if it keeps this up for even a few more days, we could see 2011 pass 2006 by Nov 10 and 2003 within a few days after that. Again, I think the growth will slow some, but it’d be funny to see it continue it’s ridiculous growth.
