- It is when she was born
- It makes her feel good about basing her life’s work around a trend which doesn’t exist. It was cool in Texas in the 1970s, so by picking a cold time as her starting point, she can fool herself into believing there is a warming trend.

3. It brings desired media attention and eventually increases her net worth.
Financial not intellectual
According to Katharine, there have been two 100 years “rain events” in Lubbock in the last 5 years.
Once again the facts tell us differently.

When you only have 120 years of records, how can you really tell what a one in a hundred year event is? Maybe the 120 prior years, there were 10 such events.
Gag.
“A sequel to Newt Gingrich’s 2007 book Contract with the Earth is in the works, though not until after the 2012 elections. The book, being edited by Contract co-author Terry Maple, is provisionally titled Environmental Entrepreneurs and will contain “essays by various businesspeople and scientists” on how to fight climate change. One of the essayists is climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe, asked by Maple to provide “a good opening chapter that lays out the facts on global climate change.” Hayhoe is a Texas Tech climate scientist and conservative evangelical Christian, who has written A Climate for Change, calling on her fellow evangelicals to stand up to the climate crisis.”
“Humans are altering the average conditions of the planet,” Dr. Hayhoe wrote for ThinkProgress Green in August, responding to Gov. Rick Perry’s (R-TX) contention that global warming is “phony.” “We can continue to challenge the reality of the issue; or we can seize this as an opportunity to wean ourselves off our dependence on the old, dirty, inefficient, and limited fuels of the past.”

Old? Dirty? Inefficient? Limited? Is she talking about fossil fuels or birdshredders?
Perry was dumped, in part, because of his stance on immigration. Newt matches that mistake and then goes beyond with the Klimate Kult. Terrific. Our choices for Prez are once again Bad vs Worse.
That’s wierd.
It is a weird travesty that climate has been so normal for the last few thousand years, varying from one weather pattern to another. How much weirder can it get, you know, the weather doing just what it has always done and they just do not understand it? It is definitely a weirding travesty.
Well Mike, when you look at the data down to daily, or hourly averages, it can look pretty extreme when it goes from bone dry to terential down pours in a matter of minutes. You might think you were in the arid southwest or something. But its a lot more effective to the grant trough to say it is evidence of global wierding……whatever the F that means.
Wonder if she copywrited that term.
Gman:
I lived in the Desert Southwest where is was normal to go from “Bone Dry” to torrential rain. To have a down pour on one side of the street while the other remained dry was also common. Some of the worst flash floods were when the area flooding was still dry as it was down stream from the rain that was in the hills / mountains.
Mike, I guess in a post-normal science world, it is no longer “weird” to let BS like this be taught as science.
I can even see it here when it rains across the road and not at my house.
