Leading NASA experts say that the Arctic may be ice free this summer. The most likely trajectory is shown above. Look for 150,000 high temperature records in the Arctic this August.

Thanks for the laugh!
We all know that spring ice amounts are not related to summer extents because all that thin new ice will melt rapidly (according to NSIDC):
While the maximum extent occurred slightly later than average, the new ice growth is very thin and likely to melt quickly.
The latest graph based on the HansenSoft(c) climate modeling, and in cooperation Baskin & Robins experimental data of rapid melting of the classic 1948 Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone.
Looks like blood…
Are those “Hacker Tracks”.?
I thought you might have given the “trusted person” a nasal adjustment.
I’m still waiting for my ice free Arctic – every year.
By the way some of those old predictions will soon be up for the test this and next summer. Hailing Al Gore.
Heh, heh.
Truth be told so am I – waiting for an ice-free arctic that is. It would be cool for a couple of reasons:
1) One of those crazy British expeditions could actually, theoretically row to the north pole for once.
2) It would just freeze up again once the sun set up there and we would find that little had changed in the world since probably and almost certainly in human historic times (Minoan warm; Roman warm etc.) it has been ice free in summer just a bit.
3) We might have a window to do some interesting exploration without all that blasted ice in the way – maybe find a mother-lode of unobtanium or something else cool and bitchen.
4) Unbelievable and most excellent blog traffic food fights.
I wonder if Connolley is still taking bets?
http://scienceblogs.com/stoat/2011/05/sea_ice_part_2.php
And better yet, if he will pay out…
If he takes any more bets he will need a Croupier’s license.
Hell need to register a prospectus with NYSE !
Connolley is surely going to announce the latest ice extent data any day now.
Linked on PJmedia: We are now on the edge of a methane induced holocaust due to melting arctic ice.

So this is how rotten ice looks like…
