In 2008, The National Weather Service told Galveston residents that they faced certain death if they didn’t evacuate from Ike. Obama said that hurricane tropical storm Irene would be an historic storm, and Bloomberg ordered everyone to evacuate.
Few people listened either time. The Galveston residents were lucky in 2008 – it could have been a catastrophe, but Irene was 98% hype.
