View from frozen Tasiilaq, Greenland this morning
World class junk science journalism from Lea Lane at Huffington Post
A recent article in the New York Times asserts that scientists are looking at the drastic decline of Arctic ice as the central clue to the extreme weather we’ve been having this winter throughout the world.
Arctic ice is right at the 30 year mean
Most believe that the weather is a direct consequence of the human release of greenhouse gases, and that the warming Arctic is ground zero.
NOAA released a statement this week saying that warm weather in the US had very little to do with global warming. The author has no idea what “most scientists believe”
Whatever the cause, I’ve seen the effects of global warming with my own eyes, and listened to Greenland fishermen who have no agenda except to make a living and feed their families.
Greenland has been frozen in with near record cold snow, and ice.
Since I was there, glacial melt is increasing rapidly in the Arctic, and a huge chunk of Antarctica is right now floating towards Australia.
Glaciers are likely increasing in size in much of the Arctic this year. One hundred years ago today, a big chunk of ice was floating towards the Titanic. Icebergs have nothing to do with global warming.
Then she goes on and on with more lies about the state of Greenland ice. Greenland is frozen solid, and has had a very cold winter with above normal sea ice. Sea ice around Greenland is more extensive in 2012 than it was in 1979, 1980, and 1981.
