NCAR propagandist Henson traveled to Minnesota to tell them that the plummeting winter temperatures and heavy snow they are experiencing are due to global warming.
A warming climate might actually mean more snow across the northern Great Plains, said Henson, author of “The Rough Guide to Climate Change,” who will be the keynote speaker Monday at the sixth annual Northern Plains Winter Storms Conference at St. Cloud.
According to NOAA, winter temperatures in Minnesota have declined this millennium at a rate of over 100 degrees per century, and the last four winters have been below the 1895-2010 mean. This guy apparently traveled from Colorado to Minnesota (at taxpayer expense?) and gave a lecture without bothering to spend 30 seconds checking to see if the basic premise of his argument was correct.

Then he took it one step further
“One of the big messages is that snowfall is increasing across parts of the far northern plains,” said Henson, a media relations associate for the University Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo. “It appears to be decreasing toward the central plains. The natural north-south divide in snowfall is becoming even more pronounced.”
North American winter snow extent has been increasing rapidly, and the last four winters have been some of the snowiest on record. High extent means the snow is falling further south.
On January 11, 2011 there was snow in every state except Florida.

Then came the usual BS about how global warming causes more moisture in the atmosphere.

At -11C (last winter’s average temperature) the air can barely hold any moisture. It saturates at less than 0.01 atmospheres.
Snow happens when it is cold. Everyone understands that until they sacrifice their brain to the global warming religion.

Amazing how these “climate experts” totally ignore the movement of the Earth on its axis, and its relation to the Sun. I’m glad I went to school when I did and actually learned science and not make believe climate BS.

Me too. Now I am on the other side doing the teaching (now in my 15th year). Back in May, I had to teach climate change to my grade 10 science class. One student, seemingly exasperated, put up his hand and said, “Sir, we have heard this every year since grade 2″. I said, “You haven’t heard the other side of the story” and I began to teach the skeptical side of things. They were quite surprised … most of them didn’t even know there was another side to the story.

This kind of stuff really makes my blood boil. So many expert presentrations and media stories contain things that can be demonstrated to be false by simple observation or 20 seconds of research! It boggles the mind how this theory elevated itself to such commonly held opionion.
BTW I’ve heard far less inane things from the Muppets though the picture is priceless!
What do you suppose are the qualifications required for a “media relations associate” at UCAR/NCAR?
Probably got one of those Environmental Reporter degrees from a J-school.
The January 2011 brings back painful memories of the Washington, DC snow hole, where everyone up and down the east coast had snow but us.
That was our payback for the 2010 Snowmaggedon, when the DC area was the snow capital of the world.
