Hansen : 80 Feet Of Sea Level Rise In The Next 40 Years

James Hansen, director of NASA’s Earth Science Research, said that disaster could probably be avoided, but that it would require dramatically cutting emission outputs. If the proper actions aren’t taken, Hansen said, the sea level could rise as much as 80 feet by the time today’s children reach middle age.

did you already link to this?

    the expert in question:

Dr Strauss (he has a PhD in ecology and evolutionary biology, and earlier degrees in biology and zoology) was announcing publication of two research papers this week by himself and other scientists.

    yoicks…

Well, let’s see… he predicted 10 feet of sea-level rise in 1988, for 2008…. it is 2012 and 97% of that rise has yet to occur- and that 3% was likely just tidal fluctuations.

also maybe this, been busy with the brontok virus recently

long story short: Australia is DOOMED what with floodful droughts and all that

It’s worse than they thought, Hansens predicted projections are still FOS and the team huddle didn’t help much as they are all still in SNAFU!

    oops — one more

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/03/11/greenland_ice_sheet_vulnerable/

Spanish and German scientists have have alarmed the international environmental community with modeling suggesting that Greenland’s ice sheets could disappear at lower temperatures than previously thought.

Are today’s children the ones that were never going to see snow?

Only if they are born at the Equator and are kept in poverty so that they can’t travel to a place that would have been considered by what most people who live in those areas would say what cold and winter really looks like. Other than that Yes!

I wonder if a survey of climate scientists was conducted if 97% of them would agree with Hansen on 80 foot sea level rise? :-)
