Don’t be fooled by falling sea levels. The red lines below show the true story.

    Cute!

In fairness, though, 3/4 of the best GLOSS-LTT tide gauges around the are measuring rising sea levels. The median rate of sea level rise from these gauges is about 1.1 mm/year.

These gauges are not uniformly distributed around the world, but careful geographical weighting of these gauges also yields a global average rate of sea level rise of about 1.1 mm/year:
    http://www.burtonsys.com/climate/global_msl_trend_analysis.html

That rate is glacially slow, amounting to only about 4 inches by 2100, and there’s been no acceleration in that rate since the first 1/4 of the 20th century (which means there’s been no acceleration in response to anthropogenic CO2).

The alarmists would have you believe that the average rate of sea level rise over the next 88 years will be 5-15 times that. I think they must be smoking something illegal.

Alarmists don’t really like to talk about sea level rise rates because they are too small to cause alarm (not to mention when you look at the satellite data there is clearly no cause for alarm). What they like to do is to say things like “if Greenland melts sea levels will rise by 20 feet!!!1!” Of course, this ignores the fact that even the IPCC doesn’t buy into such fiction – it would take thousands of years even if you took IPCC models (all of which are demonstrably inept at predicting the future) as a fact.

So what they are really saying in other words is, “If the world warms much faster than it has, our useless models somehow prove to be right in the end despite being completely wrong so far, and such warming lasts for hundreds of years, then in thousands of years Greenland might melt and cause 20 feet of sea level rise.” Somehow that truth doesn’t seem as alarming as Al Gore’s simulations of Florida disappearing under the waves.

So global seas are rising by 1.1mm per year. hahaha haha hahah bwaaaahahah

People lose their perspective on scale. One point one MILLIMETRES ffs

That graph is probably top of the page at SkS.

The sound of silence from Hansimian and the Antarctic expedition is deafening.
