“The science is solid and proves unequivocally that the world is warming,” said R.D.J. Lengoasa, deputy director of the World Meteorological Organization, and human activity is a significant contributor.
The UN says Europe will get warmer
7 February 2012 – The current cold spell that has paralyzed much of Europe and reportedly killed almost 300 people over the past week should start to ease slowly from next week, a senior official at the United Nations World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said today.
The Weather Channel says Europe will get colder
LONDON, Feb 8 (Reuters) – The worst February cold spell Europe has seen in decades may last until the end of the month, leading meteorologists said, raising the prospect of an extended spike in European spot gas prices.
“We do have higher confidence in a change by mid-February, but not to milder weather,” Leon Brown, a meteorologist at The Weather Channel in the UK, told Reuters.
“We expect a colder plunge from the Arctic with northerly winds as the blocking ridge declines eastwards to Russia, this time a blocking pattern developing to our west over the Atlantic. February will probably remain a cold month right to the end.”
The UN may not be competent to forecast next week’s weather, but they can definitely tell us what it will be like in 90 years.

Western Europe might warm up some next week. Central Europe will probably stay quite cold.
Missing ice found: http://www.delish.com/food/recalls-reviews/glacier-ice-stolen
Each year when the Fjords froze over, we headed out onto the ice, to look for bergs with the very clear vein of ice in them. Then we would hack out a huge chunk of it and bring it back to the station, and that was our ice for our drinks! …late 70′s!!!
Sounds like you were stationed up there for 3 to 6 months at a time. And yep that nice blue vein of ice in the berg is perfect for that.
