Dessler Hides The Decline

As Steve McIntyre points out, Dessler cherry picked his data to get the result he wanted.

Most of us already knew that clouds block the sun and lower the temperature, but this is beyond the grasp of the climate science community.

This Aggie Joke isn’t very funny.

I don’t know Glacier. I think this latest round was a great victory for science and skepticism. It exposed the vapid thinking of the average warmista climatologist, and shed great light on their typical lack of character.

But you have to admit….they have no sense of humor.

When they make us laugh, it is because we are laughing at them. Nothing they did in this latest round made me laugh, it has all been too sobering.

We also know that night is colder than day

. . . . and that winter is colder than summer, especially near the poles.

Now, what do these three observations have in common?

And, for extra credit, what happened in 1812 that led to the “Year without Summer”?

There is an update on Roy Spencers site stating that Dessler has contacted him and they are working out some calculations. Must have determined it was time to try to save some face. I will await the apologies. Right.

      From: http://www.drroyspencer.com:

UPDATE: I have been contacted by Andy Dessler, who is now examining my calculations, and we are working to resolve a remaining difference there. Also, apparently his paper has not been officially published, and so he says he will change the galley proofs as a result of my blog post; here is his message:

“I’m happy to change the introductory paragraph of my paper when I get the galley proofs to better represent your views. My apologies for any misunderstanding. Also, I’ll be changing the sentence “over the decades or centuries relevant for long-term climate change, on the other hand, clouds can indeed cause significant warming” to make it clear that I’m talking about cloud feedbacks doing the action here, not cloud forcing.”

Yep. Most of us new about the amazing reflectivity of clouds when Apollo 8 showed those photos of the Earth in the sky over the Moon. But years before that many realized that reflected light off the moon can cast shadows here at night, it is the same on the moon where the much larger Earth also casts shadows.

Simply put, if you can see clouds they are reflecting light, period. Furthermore, it is a safe bet that clouds reflect more than the narrow band of visible light and this would mean some IR and UV and other wavelengths.

This Dessler thing reminds of a poster at at WUWT saying that the opacity of CO2 somehow increased total radiation to Earth from the Sun. LOL! To which I said …

If a single photon of any part of the EMR spectrum is either reflected or absorbed and re-radiated to space, (i.e., it never gets here!), then, the net EMR is reduced, period. The point is that there is no way that any matter (e.g., Atmosphere) placed in between the Sun and the Earth can ever increase the amount of EMR we receive. It is theoretically possible (but highly unlikely) for it to be EQUAL, but not GREATER.

I was talking about CO2 there, but it seems like we have now exchanged clouds for CO2. Truthfully speaking, these so-called scientists need to get out more. Specifically they need to stand in the sun and wait for clouds to come along. Do you believe we are even discussing this!!!!!
