A Cool Million With No Diligence

I was founder of several venture capital funded businesses. The process of obtaining funding is long and difficult, and involves an extensive process (6-12 months) of due diligence.

By contrast, global warming research money is stolen from taxpayers and dished out like drunken sailors.

Researchers from the University of Colorado and Kansas State University have been awarded a grant for more than $850,000 to study the impacts of climate change on prairie dogs in the Boulder area.

Thirty seconds of due diligence would have turned up the fact the climate in Boulder hasn’t changed for 50 years. This study is a complete waste of time. How do you study the effects of climate change at a locale where the climate hasn’t changed?

Prairie dogs will soon need gumboots and relocate to higher ground because of that uptrend in precipitation since 1960.

  2. avatar Robert Austin says:

Some academic just wants to study prairie dogs. they just need the obligatory magic words “climate change” to grease the wheels of the process and ensure that the grant is generous.

BTW, they won’t actually be studying prairie dogs

This is another GIGO modeling exercise, no doubt using the new NCAR Sooooooper Dooooooper peta-flip-flop Compoooooooooooter – - located in Wyoming (due to cheap, but evil, coal-generated electricity)

And the answer will be “It’s worse than we thought”.

Now, can I have my million?
