THE death toll from the big freeze that has hit much of continental Europe this week rose to 122 yesterday.
In Serbia, at least 11,000 villagers remained trapped by heavy snow and blizzards in the country’s mountains last night, officials said.
In some regions temperatures have plunged to a record low of -30C (-22F), with snowfall causing power cuts, traffic chaos and the closure of schools, nurseries and airports.
The stranded in Serbia are stuck in some 6,500 homes in remote areas that cannot be reached due to icy, snow-clogged roads. Emergency crews were pressing hard last night to try to clear the snow to deliver vital supplies, and helicopters were dispatched to remote parts of Serbia and neighbouring Bosnia.
Elsewhere, thousands of schools were closed, hundreds have been hospitalised with hypothermia and some areas have seen temperatures plummet to their lowest levels in a century.

The Scotsman story also says that the Dutch canals are being kept boat-free so they can freeze over for ice skating. Back in 2007, they said this was not going to happen much anymore. Looks like at least 2 winters in a row!

Canada is having a milder winter then normal so the Climate Liars are out en masse saying it’s because of Global Warming, all the while ignoring the cold temperatures in Europe and elsewhere. Our mild winter is easily explained by meteorlogical conditions, yet the ‘climate experts’ ignore the rational reasons and try to scare us with insane stories that the world is heating up. The Climate Liars will say and do anything to impose their sick ‘religious’ views upon the rest of us.
It has been a wonderful winter this winter….and the alarmist have conveniently forgot the last 2 stupid cold winters…
I have not heard one complaint about our mild winter. Not. One.

Steven, effing cold is just weather, don’t you know. On the other hand, I would be cautious about the mention of global warming to those European’s freezing their junk off. Besides, R. Gates assures us that the warming trend is still there hidden by the excruciatingly cold weather.

There is no Global climate, there are only regional climate variations that follow “LONG” term patterns*. * Plural because each region is affected by numerous patterns over time.
