WARNING: Global temperatures are shooting UP
“We know the planet is absorbing more energy than it is emitting,” said GISS Director James E Hansen, adding, “So we are continuing to see a trend toward higher temperatures. Even with the cooling effects of a strong La Nina influence and low solar activity for the past several years, 2011 was one of the 10 warmest years on record.”
Hansen predicts a big El Nino almost every year, including a Super El Nino in 2007 and a strong El Nino in 2011. Sooner or later a broken clock is going to be correct. Only problem is, all his other facts are wrong too.
Temperatures are below the 30 year mean, despite solar maximum and ENSO being neutral. Hansen is living in the twilight dream world of a man who’s life work has proved to be a massive failure.

Hansen will only understand that the world does not revolve around his proclamations when the polar bears and penguins meet a on the glacier outside his office. Then, and only then, will the penny drop.
Till then the rest of us know he is very mistaken.

He knows he’s a fraud and is perfectly happy with it. He’s also a bureaucrat who measures success in terms of real power and can’t help but be happy with the current state of affairs. If Obama wins, he and his friends will make every effort to mug the US through a cap and trade like scheme again regardless of whether it warms or not.
Steve, why do you keep saying we are at solar maximum? The weaker cycle is also a delayed cycle – we’ll find out over the next 1-2 years.

Your link confirms others I have seen, that solar max is now predicted to be in 2013.

All you need to do is say we’re near solar max – makes you look more credible. Remember, I’m 90% on your side.
Clarification – your link shows a predicted peak in December 2012.
IPS forecasts the peak occurring in 2012 at 90.2, and we are currently within one or two standard deviations.
i.e we are at solar max.
Dr Hansen says “we know the world is absorbing more heat than it is emitting” so where is the heat being stored. It can’t be in the ocean because you can’t heat water from above due to surface tension.
Surface tension has nothing to do with preventing heat transfer. Cite your scientific reference.
The surface tension can be ameliorated with a bit of valium to relax it. Makes the transfer go more smoothly.
