What Darwin was saying is that dramatic climate change is an essential part of the ecosystem. Scientists who claim that the climate used to be stable, have no idea what they are talking about – and are wildly incompetent.

Darwin points out that a stable climate would be an ecological disaster.

    Ahh the good old days of science when going out into the field, observing, touching, feeling comparing and contemplating was what it was all about.

    Now we worship the biggest most powerful computers hoping it will give us the answer. And irregardless of the size and power of the computer, the answer is always 42.

    The notions of change and stress being essential elements of the environment are easily (or conveniently) overlooked.

    There is no stable or constant environment, only variations around a mean state.

    But Darwin forgot to average the adjusted, normalized, mean figures to get the true meaning of the natural stasis of the climate.
