WASHINGTON (AP) — In rhetorical excesses marking his entry in the presidential campaign, Mitt Romney said the economy worsened under President Barack Obama, when it actually improved

You know they are going to lie. The truth is what Romney said. Now he can blame Bush (about the only thing he is good at), but the reality is Unemployment was below 8% when he took office. It is at 9% now.
I know the answer…things didn’t worsen as badly as if Obama had lost the election…
It’s a standardized answer that could be used for anything, really
Steve,
I normally defend you, but in this case you’re full of the proverbial.
Plot (accurately, now) Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 on that graph, and you’ll see that most of that run-up came under the despised W.
Conundrum for you. Which is the racist?
A) Some-one who supports a candidate purely because s/he is black (an African-American, whatever).
B) Some-one who opposes a candidate because s/he is incompetent, too far right/left, cold/too effusive, too much the old-style (I could name a town here) pol/too much the ingénue, inconsistent/too rigid etc.
Yes, that $trillion stimulus was so very effective.
Here’s your graph. http://www.data360.org/temp/dsg2234_500_350.jpg Sis, it doesn’t matter how you slice it, we can discuss unemployment, the value of the dollar, our dependence on foreign fuel, trade deficit….. it doesn’t matter……. we are worse off today than 2-3 years ago, and much of the credit for this lack of economic movement goes to the pinhead in chief. We’d be much better off today had he done nothing. No stimulus, no bailout part two, no hating the poor with the cash for clunkers, no off-shore moratorium, no EPA CO2 finding…….. its idiocy to defend such a track record.
Here’s some more idiocy……..http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/02/us-offers-foreign-aid-to-countries-holding-billions-in-treasury-securities/
More “improvement”. —— back up to 9.1% I guess McDonald’s quit hiring.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/03/employers-add-just-54000-jobs-in-may-unemployment-rate-rises-to-1-percent/
OK, so I boobed.
Did you forget the huge democratic majorities of the congress is 2008?
There’s no scale on the y axis.
Are we better off today financially than we were in 2008? That is the question. We owe more money we pay more in interest and we have higher unemployment. That is the answer. Do the math and a sane person gets scared, very scared. A responsible sane person quits doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
US Has To Create 250K Jobs A Month For 66 Months To Return To December 2007 Unemployment By End Of Obama’s Second Term

I’d like to believe that they really are not that devious…..
But more and more people are now dependent on the government.
At the same time you have republicans forced to say we have to cut back…
…we have democrazies saying we have to spend more

The one I track is California since it goes back to ’72:

Half of recent added jobs were from McDonalds:

By any objective measure, the economy is in better shape today than it was when Obama took office. We have had GDP growth for about seven if not eight consecutive quarters. Businesses are having record revenue and profits. They are not creating jobs with that money, but don’t blame it on Obama. After bottoming out in Oct 2008, the stock market prices are almost back to where they were having gained back about 50% of the money lost showing that consumer demand is starting to pick back up.
The only thing that has not improved dramatically is unemployment. The bleeding has been stopped though and the wound is slowly healing, lets be honest though – the injury was not sustained by Obama, he merely had to deal with fixing it.
When Bush left office we were losing. We were losing 800,000 jobs a MONTH, by December of 2009, after less than a year in office, Obamas ecomony had turned that loss into a monthly gain. By June of 2010 we were gaining 400,000 jobs a month. Since then it has been a battle to stay between 100,000-200,000 jobs gained per month. It’s not enough to equalize the 8 million jobs lost under Bush but don’t say it has gotten worse when it has gotten better. We are now gaining jobs when we were losing them.
The economy has improved since Obama took over, but not nearly fast enough. You ain’t can dig out of 15 foot hole with a 5 foot ladder. Increasing revenues is a tool to give us a bigger ladder and its time we used that tool. We need cuts and increases in revenues….how laughable, and sad that Obama doubles the amount the GOP requested in cuts and trumped them by putting $4 trillion in cuts on the table…and then they reject it. WHO IS NEGOTIATING FOR AMERICA? If the GOP cannot compromise and negotiate a 4 trillion dollar deal, it will be obvious to everyone that the GOP is negotiating for the rich and their own reelections, not AMERICA.
9% unemployment and $14 trillion debt is very objective. Obama did everything he could to talk the economy down until March, 2009 – and by then he had scared the shit out of everyone and it was too late. The power of unrelentingly negative thinking.
How is it where the sun never shines?
Ironlungs – you remind me of the guy who smashes into a wall with his car. After miraculously walking away, he says “I am better off than before since statistics say I would be dead 50% of the time, but now I am alive”.
Yea, the economy is breathing, but crashing it into a wall is not an improvement. Sorry, your economics suck.
Also, see this link: http://chiefio.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/well-theres-your-problem-fed-spending-299-home-income-27/
It is clear the republicans ARE negotiating for America – Democrats are just negotiating for themselves.
Wrong, the economy isn’t better. Its worse. Our debt and trade imbalance is worse. The stock market doesn’t reflect the economy.
Given the extreme debt run up by this current administration, it is ridiculous to discuss tax increases of any kind while federal largess continues. It is in America’s best interest not to compromise with Obama and the minions.
Hauser’s laws states that an increase in taxes will not increase revenues. This has been shown time and time again. Libtards refuse to address reality. It is lunacy to pursue this class warfare, especially during the economic climate we have today. While the GDP has modestly increased, it isn’t enough to sustain growth.
BTW, I will happily negotiate for the rich. We need rich people in this country. And the more rich people we have the better off this nation is.
There are a few axioms you need to familiarize yourself with. First, you can’t tax yourself wealthy and you can spend yourself out of debt. A lesser known one would be that it isn’t productive to punish the successful segments of our society. In this nation, we still encourage exceptionalism and we’ll continue to do so long after you totalitarian socialists are gone from here. We will not define down to the least common denominator. We will encourage people to strive for the highest. So, you girls continue your games. Keep scaring children and old people. The American public is watching and they are aware of the lies and tactics used against them. You thought last election was bad…….just wait until the next one. Obama has a choice. He can lead with the House majority or he will be moved out of the way.
