Andrew Dessler, a climate researcher at Texas A&M University, says he is skeptical of the satellite data’s reliability. “As far as the data go, I don’t really trust the satellite data. While satellites clearly have some advantages over the surface thermometer record, such as better sampling, measuring temperature from a satellite is actually an incredibly difficult problem. That’s why, every few years, another big problem in the UAH temperature calculation is discovered. And, when these problems are fixed, the trend always goes up,” he said via email.
Yea, like 0.001 degrees.
The greatest warming has been in the Arctic.
Well let’s have a quick peek at Dessler’s surface data, which tells us that the greatest warming has been in the Arctic.
Note: Gray areas signify missing data.
(Missing data – like the Arctic) ROFLMAO

Until ARGO, we didn’t really have very reliable surface (as in non-Satellite) data for most of the surface of the planet, either.
Add to that poor siting, the UHI effect and bizarre historical adjustments made by GISS, and that’s before one even considers extrapolation in the Arctic.
Dessler has some incredibly weird sense of “trust”.
On a kind of related note:

Ironically, this is encouraging as students apparently prefer to think independently (and rationally), rather than to bend to political agenda, which is what science in this country is run by.
“As far as the data go, I don’t really trust the satellite data…”
Translation: “I need the UHI effect and a myriad of different temperature altering factors I can use for excuses to torture my data so as to fit my doomsday predictions.
Oh they are using actual surface temperatures for the Arctic alright, they’re just extrapolated from downtown Miami.
That dumbass…… what does he have to say about RSS? That wasn’t anything but a veiled personal attack on Spencer and Christy. What’s wrong with these cowards such as Andy. He got his ass handed to him on his last foray into skeptic-land and now he’s got to throw darts from afar.
He says nothing about RSS? Here it is vs UAH….. http://www.woodfortrees.org/plot/uah/from:1998/mean:6/plot/rss/from:1998/mean:6
Steve, you might want to note also, that the Antarctic is misrepresented in their graphical representation. If you look at the map, it seems to imply they have good coverage of the interior antarctic. Last I heard, they had all of two thermometers away from the coasts.
You can’t trust satellite data, but I really don’t trust their Arctic extrapolations (aka fudging).
I found the problem:
And this one is for Katherine:
Have a look at these two photos: Isn’t there a similar “Pika in the Headlights” stare?

…. Just sayin…
You can tell from his picture that guy is a moron.
Yeah, it’s always in the eyes…

Look at it this way for Dressler – he was spanked earlier with real data – so now with no data, no one can demonstrate he is wrong.
He couldn’t even be vaguely misleading properly….

Further, his statement, “And, when these problems are fixed, the trend always goes up,….” is demonstrably false.
