According to the papers we have just had the worst storm in 15 years with winds of upto 80mph.

They must have a short memory. Back in February winds of over 90mph battered England and Scotland.

Just for the record according to the Met Office even in the worst affected area of Scotland sustained wind speed never got above 45mph with gusts upto 60mph.

The Daily Mail mentions the highest windspeed recorded was 82 mph at Capel Curig in Wales. It forgot to mention that this weather station is half way up a mountain.
