If those lakes recede again it will show the weather patterns are returning to those experienced in 1854, 1921, or when the homes were originally built. That would mean returning to a more moderate climate than we experience today!
I can see how less severe weather conditions could cause problems for some! Where would the world be with less severe blizzards?
